Craps

The "Craps" is derived from an ancient game named "Hazard". Hazard was created by Sir William of England. The name of the game was on the name of his castle "Hazard". While the Britannica says that the name came from Arabic word "al zar" or "azzah" which means dice. Hazard was a very popular gambling game played in England. Then the French made some variations in the game and named it as "Craps".

It was brought to America by "Bernard de Marigny" who was a politician and a famous gambler of Louisiana. The game was formerly known as "Crapaud". After that it spread in American and African countries. The player has to wager money on the outcome of the dice against the dealer. There can be one or two dices and the rolls of dices can be one or more than one. It was very popular among the soldiers in past times.

In Craps, there are many bets and many dealers. In this game there is a dealer called "Boxman" who sits near to the large stack of cheques called "chips" in craps table. All the final calls have to be made by the Boxman. Also, if there is any dispute within the game or to check the dices used in the game then that will be handled by him. "Stickman" is the person who holds the dice with a long stick which is bent at one end. He is the person who maintains the security. Stickman stands near the Boxman and control all the game. There are two more dealers standing at both sides of the table. These dealers are responsible for all the deals at their side of the table.

Dice is passed among the players. When there is a turn for a player then he is called a "shooter". There are two states of the game one is "Off" and another is "On". If the point in the game is set, then the game is called on and when the point is to be set by rolling, then it is called off state. If there is a white circle of plastic with ON written on it anywhere in the numbered squares, then the game is in ON state. If the puck's top face is of black color with OFF written on it, then the game is called in OFF state.

Each player of the game has its own turn for rolling one after the other. First roll is called "Come out roll", since there is no point set at that time. If a person rolls a 7,2,3,11,12 at come out roll then the points does not set. If a person is playing a pass line bet and he gets 7 or 11 then that will be considered as a win while coming of 2,3,12 is considered as a loss in the game. Other left numbers if come are considered as points. When a point comes then a white puck is placed on the point which shows the ON state of the game Keno rules are used. Everyone wants to get a point before the shooter rolls a seven which means the end or OFF state of the game.
