Poker

Poker is also one of the most popular playing games in the world. It started from USA. Poker is a card game in which all the players bet in a pot and the player with the best hand win the pot at the end of the bet.

Poker is derived from a Persian game "as nas". The name of the game is derived from the Irish word "Poka" means pocket. The game Poker was played in New Orleans in around 1830's. It was played by four players with a 20-cards deck.

There are four actions which a player can take during a bet. A bet of zero also called a "check" is when the player does not show any interest in the pot. A non zero bet is called a "raise" or simply a bet when the bet is greater than the previous bets and the successive players must exceed or at least match the last bet otherwise do not show any interest in the pot. "Call" is a bet in which the bet is equal to the last bet to maintain their interest. One can surrender his interest in the pot when another player bets with the loss of his cards and also his old bets. It is called "fold".

Betting is done one by one in a circular way, until a player either calls or folds all bets. All the players can compare their hands according to the following rules:

• Straight flush: Straight flush is called to that situation when there are five consecutive cards of the same suit such as 87654 of heart.
  
  
• Four of a kind: In this, there are four cards of the same kind like 77773 which are ranked by their value. For example 33332 is of higher rank than 22223.
  
• Three of a kind: When there are three cards of the same kind then it is called a Three of a kind.
  
  
• Full house: In this situation there are three cards of one rank followed by the two of some other kind such as 33388.
  
  
• Flush: If there are five cards of the same suit then it is called Flush like 45732 of hearts.
  
  
• Straight: When there are five cards in a consecutive manner then it is called a straight.
